Home · Summer algae

August will turn a white bowl green if the water sits and the sun does not.

Flow, shade, and a lid. Not a monthly chemical hobby unless you want one.

Algae is sunlight plus nutrients plus still water. West-facing courtyards in NPR cook. Oak litter in Magnolia Valley feeds it. Canal splash in Gulf Harbors adds junk. The fix is flow and cleaning, not a lecture.

A pump that is too small to turn the bowl over is an algae machine. We size for turnover, not for a pretty trickle that photographs well and sits.

White limestone under a live oak is a cleaning hobby. We will say that. Darker stone hides what Florida does.

Chemicals exist. We are not a pool route. If you want a weekly tablet, say so. If you want to rinse a bowl once a month, we design toward that.

Pondless runs in full Odessa sun grow film on the stone. Shade from an oak you did not trench through is worth more than a taller fall.

Notes from the yard

Freeze nights, algae, room on the truck. A few times a year. Not a weekly blast.
